Some Social etiquette rules everyone should follow
Etiquette is not just about which fork to use and presenting people the right way. It’s about respecting yourself and others in your corner of the earth. You don’t need to watch The Crown to know the rules, here are 20 ways to get better and reach the top this year! We teach you basic manners.
Use people’s names
Names are the most precious commodity, and you’d be surprised how many doors open: waiters and clerks will do anything for you when your name is called. It’s the magic word.
interested in others
Don’t pretend. The wrong interest is worse than no interest.
Say hello
If you run into someone you know, say hello. Don’t crawl over like a cockroach. Saying hello makes everyone feel better.
Say thank you
These are two of the hardest words in the English language for most people, but they work like a charm.
be nice to people
Let others go first, take credit, and get the best room, or auction. They will love you for it.
fuss but never get dirty
Praise people when they do something (bring a great gift, pass a test), but not when they do something they regret (spill wine, lose their driver’s license).
Put others in the spotlight
Even if they’re just drinking coffee together. Ask them, ask their children, ask their lives.
Look at the person you’re talking to
Oh, really. Search from your smartphone.
Don’t do anything to hurt others.
Either swear or money.
Notice
Compliment and thank someone who pays special attention to their hair and clothing, and if someone is shaking or worried, take notice immediately and take the action you want someone in your position to take.
Avoid sarcasm
It is always seen and hated.
on time
We are all busy, so don’t make anyone wait for you.
don’t bring your smelly baby to the office
Enough said.
dress for the occasion
Strict black tie at state dinners, formal attire and pajamas at funerals only at home, not at the corner store.
listen, listen, listen
If you can hear your own voice, shut up.
Be kind in small things.
Give something small and pretty on someone’s birthday, bring a handful of sweet peas to a sick friend, and send a card to remember a big day.
enthusiasm
Thoughts about other people, family, kids, business plans, accomplishments. This will go a long way.
When you do someone a favor, don’t talk about it.
Be generous. Running for lunch or coffee.
Never bore or bore anyone.
because it’s possible.
leave that phone
Even when you’re talking to someone, holding it in your hand is a subtle signal that you want to talk to someone.
